Celebrating Venice High’s Centennial in L.A.

My classmates at Venice High (Chiron, Winter ’65) continue to embrace me even though I dropped out to be the Dr Pepper Girl. My fellow celebs are Myrna Loy and Gogi Grant, among others. A statue of Myrna Loy graces the front lawn of the campus. Grease (1978) was filmed at Venice.

To be among the Alumn of Venice High is pretty cool. I can only imagine the list of names that make up the alumni during the last one hundred years. Definitely something worth celebrating. There’s no question why your classmates continue to embrace you. You look and sound great and have made quite an impact in many of our lives. By the way, the pictures of you in that Mustang make it seem as though it’s 1965 again. Thanks for sharing. Matt

    You Look Terrific !!! Donna

That green 1965 Mustang really looks fabulous with
you riding on the back in your pretty pink dress. Glad
that your still singing and looking like an angel.
Hope someday, that I can get to see you sing live.

    Best Wishes 😉 😉

  3. Joanie Sommers says:

Hello Venice HS Classmate Donna Loren !! It’s me Joanie Sommers here.

It was great to see you again Donna !

My name in high school was Joan Drost.
You look just like you did in the sixties as the Dr. Pepper girl.

My “One Boy” song came from “Bye Bye Birdie”. I made the chart with it, but lost a job in the process. I was also the girl who sang the Pepsi jingle, and this lovely song has a line in it that plugs Coke. Ooops!! But, it got me that one boy, that has loved me since, mistake I never regretted.

Here are some of my song links:

Call me Donna sometime, so we can reminisce
about high school and the sixties?

Sorry I couldn’t be there to join the small, select group of fellow Chirons. Farm duties keep me glued to the homestead this time of year. It looks like LA is treating you well and keeping you busy. Keep up the great work!

  5. Andy says:

    Once more I ask,

    Why are you so perfect?

  6. Dreaming Man says:

WOW !!! Donna, you really are Perfect !!! In any man’s eyes !!!

Men are dreamers and believe all women are perfect, believe it or not.

In relationships, we want to be independent of judgment and control, and all the pain and misunderstanding that’s
    accumulated in our lives.

Man’s underlying beliefs about women are:

She SHOULD do what she says.
She SHOULDN’T assume I will be free with no plans or arrangements.
She SHOULDN’T expect me to be a mind reading robot.
She should realize that I have a life of my own.
I will not perform on cue,as if, I am her supporting cast
in her own personal soap opera.
    Women SHOULD be polite.
    Women SHOULD be respectful.
Women SHOULD NOT blame me for their issues.
Women should LOVE me and WANT me and Accept me for who I am, not who they want me to be.
Women should be thankful for what a man gives, unless they are gold diggers, in which case, by all means pull out the
monocle and examine that diamond to determine it’s value.
Women should be less judgmental. Learn to just relax and
    enjoy a man’s company.
Stop fretting over every last facet of every last detail. In other words, if a man says something nice to you, stop trying to figure out if there is some hidden meaning in what he said.
Men aren’t that deep that they have hidden meaning in what they say. Typically, what they mean is exactly what they say,
no matter how it sounds, if he likes you, it is usually complimentary. If he says that you look beautiful, don’t tell
him that he is just saying that. It’s disrespectful and you are in effect, calling him a liar. Keep doing that, and he’ll stop saying compliments. He’s looking for your face and eyes to light up when he says it. He’s not looking for you to show him
that you have some kind of real or fake, lack of self esteem.
Men really do think women are precious perfect diamonds
    without faults.
