3D

I was amazed to experience 21st Century 3D in the spectacular Avatar and Tim Burton’s newest contribution to the world of cinema Alice in Wonderland. Oh, to see Johnny Depp break-dance up close and personal! It’s a far cry from the sci-fi days when 3D glasses had cardboard frames. Now we sit in the dark, all looking like Tom Cruise in Risky Business! Ya know, those Ray-Ban shades he wore with his Calvins!

My 6-week stay n L.A. is coming to an end. In my leisure time I had the pleasure of 3D and other Oscar-nominated films such as Crazy Heart, Up In the Air and An Education. Jeff Bridges won me over in his portrayal of a down-trodden country singer who rebounded and cleaned up his act. Didn’t get the girl (Maggie Gyllenhaal), although he did regain his pride. What a surprise to see and hear C0lin Farrell as a country star. Couldn’t be totally faithful to JB when George Clooney is the compassionate job hatchet man. My heart was broken when he didn’t get the girl. Is there a common theme here? Even An Education ran parallel to the one that got away but introduced Carey Mulligan, a fresh face in the crowd.

My packing was interrupted by an interview with a radio network called Premier. One of their syndicated programs I’m familiar with is Delilah. She takes requests from her listeners and always shares her sympathy and humor as she selects the appropriate song for the situation. Don’t exactly know when my sound bites will be aired, or on what show. I’ll let you know when the info is concrete.

Speaking of concrete, next stop is Chicago, my old stomping ground for making Dr Pepper commercials. Hope the Hawaiian tropical influence on me can handle the cold. Time to bundle up.

I am patiently waiting on your return to music, and film. The first steps since 1967, will be hard, however, I know you can do it. – Love you Donna.

The first time I heard Donna Sing She was a 15 year old 10th grader, singing at a Jewish Teenage Dance on Venice Blvd In Mar Vista Calif. She had a great Voice then, and I knew with luck she was going to be a star. A few year later she made it as the Dr Pepper Girl and later on as Cat Women on the Batman TV Show.
We later met at UCLA Mardi Gras where my Frat had the Bat Mobile on Display and Donna and I had a long conversation. I followed her career. and wondered what happened to her after she retired.
The last I heard she was on Kauai Hawaii, and had a small Business.
I am so glad that she came out of retirement, and is back in business. I will purchase this new CD of hers.
She is really looking great, after all these years.
    Donna Good luck
